Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
A health savings account was first offered to state employees in 2006. As of April 2008, approximately 10,724 employees participate. For the 132,000 Hoosiers eligible for the Healthy Indiana Plan, a "POWER" health savings account is available to help pay medical expenses.
Offer incentives for health improvements for state employees.
In 2007, tobacco-free state employees were offered a $500 reduction health plan. As of April 2008, 27,893 employees participate. Also, employees and their families participating in a program designed to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle are eligible for reduced health care insurance premiums.
