    Spend Hoosier tax dollars with Hoosier firms

    In 2005, Governor Daniels issued an executive order to spend Hoosier tax dollars with Indiana firms wherever possible. Currently, 83 cents of every tax dollar is spent with Indiana companies - up from 62 cents prior to 2005. Under Buy Indiana, nearly $1 billion more is spent with companies employing thousands of Hoosiers.

    Market the state's assets.

    Governor Daniels initiated three economic trade missions to Asia and Western Europe. These visits led to hundreds of millions of dollars in unprecedented new and expanded development and thousands of new jobs for Hoosiers. A new tourism campaign helped increase travel to Indiana by 8% with an economic impact increase of $89.6 million.

    Encourage Hoosier businesses to support one another

    In personal meetings and through providing copies of the State's "Buy Indiana" report, Governor Daniels continually encourages government, academic and corporate leaders to invest more of their dollars for goods and services with Indiana companies.

    Sponsor conventions for site selection consultants involved in major business expansions and relocations.

    The Indiana Economic Development Corporation regularly meets with top national and international site planners explaining Indiana's business benefits. Their efforts have resulted in several companies, such as WellPoint, expanding or relocating to our state and creating thousands of new jobs for Hoosiers.
